:skull360: We have now successfully upgraded to v4.4.0-alpha.1+mementomods-2025-01-05.

The branch is now synced and up-to-date and 94 commits ahead from the last version which was v4.4.0-alpha.1+mementomods-2024-12-15.

As usual, please tell me or our other admins about any strange things you may encounter with this Mastodon version. We're running bleeding edge after all.

I hope you enjoy your time here. Feel free to send me a message if you have anything in mind. :bunhdheart:

I sometimes get asked are Russian or Israeli people allowed on our instance and if so, why. I understand there are strong emotions and concern about the world situation right now, but it's not my place to discriminate other human beings purely based on the country they are born to.

All nationalities welcome as long as you respect others and follow the rules and comply our code of conduct. I understand even saying this could cause our liberal instance to be fediblocked, but you have all the right to do so.

When I first started my server in 2022 I was worried I will be shouting in a void, because it sounded quite tricky to get seen in the Fediverse. But I learned very soon even a tiniest instance can be seen in the vast Fediverse just like a website can be indexed to Google after a while.

Today my small Finnish server knows 31137 domains which is pretty much the entire known Fediverse, give or take a few servers gone offline. Mementomori.social has 184 active monthly users (328 users in total), but we are very well federated. How? Simply by being very active and using relays.

Let it snow! ❄️

I have added snow to my instance during the winter holidays. It's a tiny JS canvas and fades out on scroll down. The snow is also respecting the system accessibility settings, it won't be there if you prefer reduced motion.

It's soon second full year of my server in the social web. I'm so thankful of your support. Before the Fediverse all of my servers were just for websites and customers. After getting in to the Fediverse my servers and code actually have this huge social impact and meaning and not just for myself but for many users. Thank you for being here.
